Third World Telugu Confrerence
          As per the conclusions of the second World Telugu Conference, the 3rd World Telugu Conference was held in Mauritius in 1990. This World Telugu Conference was held in association with Potti Sri Ramulu Telugu University, International Telugu Center, Mauritius Telugu Mahasabha from Dec. 10 – Dec. 13, 1990 at Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Maca area of Mauritius.

          Mauritius Governor General Sir Veeraswamy Ringudu and Prime Minister Sir Anirudh Jagannath attended the conference as Chief Guests. Inaugurating the conference they lauded the Indo Mauritius relationship and association and particularly the contribution made by the Telugu people in the overall development of Mauritius. Under the leadership of then President Jnanpith awardee Padma Bhushan Dr. C. Narayana Reddy, many educationists, intellectuals, poets, artists, Telugu film industry actors, officials from Andhra Pradesh attended and made the conference a huge success.

          The felicitation of Sri. Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao who was instrumental and played a key role in the first & second World Telugu Conference is not to be noticed but to be felt proud of. His son Sri. Mandali Buddha Prasad also participated in this conference.

          During the 4 day conference many key topics such as Telugu teaching, literature, history, culture were discussed, deliberated, poetry session were organized. Over 200 years ago, many generations of Telugu people from coastal regions went to Mauritius and settled there over.

          All along, they have lost touch with the Telugu culture, since there was not much travel back to their roots, still, but for love and affection for the language, they have been preserving, protecting and passing on the Telugu tradition to the next generation. The third World Telugu Conference came as a blessing in disguise for them and they lapped onto it. A magazine with best literature was launched at the conference.

          The conference organized by Government of Andhra Pradesh was a milestone in the history of World Telugu Conference. Drawing inspiration from it, many Telugu World Conferences were held all over the world. The tradition of World Telugu Conference is continued all over the world by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
