World Telugu Conference – When one hears about this language, the heart of every Telugu person fills with ecstasy & joy. The soul fills with pride & delight when we reminisces the Telugu language and its culture. The Telugu language, song, poems, dance, drama, folk, traditions, culture and what not, everything associated with this word 'Telugu' is purity personified.

Now the time has come up once again to quote Sri Krishna Devaraya's eminent quote "Desa Bhashalandu Telugu Lessa" (among the nations all languages, Telugu is the best). Yes, we will be celebrating the 'World Telugu Conference" from Dec. 27, 28, & 29, 2012 at Tirupati with utmost gaiety and grandeur. This prestigious event is being organized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The 'World Telugu Conference' will be one single festival that every Telugu household will celebrate, a festival that brings together the entire Telugu community on one platform to celebrate and rejoice. Eminent personalities, distinguished guests, poets, writers, intellectuals, artists will confluence together at one place to share, engage and interact with each other and give a new dimension and vision to the rich history, heritage of Telugu Language at the historic World Telugu Conference.

Background:
  • The first Telugu World Conference was grandly organized from April 12-18, 1975 in Hyderabad.

  • The second World Telugu Conference was organized from April 14-18, 1982 in the Malaysian Capital Kuala Lumpur.

  • The third World Telugu Conference was held from Dec. 10-13, 1990 in Mauritius

  • Now, the World Telugu Conference is scheduled to take place from Dec. 27-29 at Tirupati

Vision:
After 37 years of gap, the prestigious World Telugu Conference is being held on our Telugu soil. Besides from the entire Telugu community living around the world participating in the conference with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm, the vision of this conference, in the midst of globalization, is to preserve, protect, propagate and promulgate the rich culture, heritage and history of our Telugu language.

Mission:
  • Formulate plans and strategies on how best we can disseminate quality information on the rich culture, heritage, traditions, and values of Telugu language and its history among children, youngsters. Exert efforts to inculcate a sense of belonging on our Telugu culture for the future generations.

  • In the backdrop of globalization, plan and develop strategies to reach out to all Telugu people living in different parts of India and across all continents, bring them on one single platform, discuss, debate and find solutions on the issues and concerns facing our culture.

  • Leverage Internet technologies to take Telugu language to the next level and bring parity with all other languages in the world.

  • To take effective steps in making Telugu as an official language in Governance, Education, and in information & broadcasting

  • Telugu people are blessed with a rich heritage of Telugu folk and traditions. To formulate policies in promoting and encouraging all artists associated with Telugu folk and traditions.

  • Telugu community has a rich history dating back to thousands of years. To take effective steps to consolidate and aggregate the research done so far, encourage research scholars to brainstorm and carry forward the research in specific areas, and to bring to light the ancient Telugu art, and culture.

  • To publish books on Telugu literature, culture and ancient art and Telugu dictionaries, to research and find new words in Telugu vocabulary.

  • To take effective steps to provide quality books, teaching tools and find ways to easy learning of Telugu language.

  • To promote Telugu historical places, museums and tourism

Plan:
A planning committee is established under the leadership of the Hon. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri. Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, and committees are also established with state ministers, Telugu ministers in union cabinet, state legislative council and assembly, parliament members and other eminent personalities. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has released an amount of Rs. 25.00 Crores for organizing this conference. A cabinet committee is established with 8 ministers, they are as follows:

  8. Hon. Smt. D. K. Aruna, Minister for Information and Public Relations

  • The World Telugu Conference will be held at 25 acres of land in Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University area of Tirupati in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

  • The premise will have one major stage and five semi-stages, five seminar halls, world Telugu books, and archaeology, palm leaf and published books, handicrafts exhibitions, medical care center, rural sports, surabi drama, Telugu delicacies and old Telugu movies and much more.

  • Cultural programs by eminent poets, artists.

  • The entire premise will be decorated artistically and aesthetically depicting the rich Telugu culture.

  • Eminent Telugu writers and Intellectuals will submit their papers at the conference

  • Monographs will be launched on over 200 years’ history of Telugu art, literature and culture

  • Special magazine ‘Telugu Vani’, on the first World Telugu Conference will be re-launched.

  • Special Telugu Conference magazines will be launched.

  • Thousands of NRI’s living abroad, Telugu people from other states in India and from Andhra Pradesh will attend the conference.

  • On the eve of World Telugu Conference, Conferences will be held in 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh from Dec. 15 to Dec. 25 to inspire and motivate the people. Similarly culture programmes will be held in other states neighboring Andhra Pradesh such as Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore, Bellary, Behrampur, Kharagpur, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Chhattisgarh, and New Delhi. Conferences, art exhibitions and processions will also be held on Telugu language in village, Mandal division of those cities. Eminent personalities will also be felicitated.

  • To organize this conference, offices are set up in Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad and in ‘Mahathi’ auditorium in Tirupati.


How to Participate in World Telugu Conference:
  • The common people need not pay any amount to participate in this conference. It is completely free.

  • Indians desirous of participating as delegates need to pay Rs. 500 and NRI’s US$ 20.

  • This amount can be paid in form of cash or DD at World Telugu Conference office, at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad, and ‘Mahathi’ auditorium in Tirupati. Out station people can send a DD drawn from any nationalized bank in the name of Director, Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh payable at Hyderabad.

  • People participating as ‘Delegates’ will be provided with a ‘kit bag’, breakfast and lunch for 3 days, facilitating accommodation with reservation on payment. They will also be provided with ID cards.
